Being in business is about making an impression on people. You want them to buy into what your offering. Take a high street store for example. They plaster their shop fronts telling you who they are what they offer and any promotions that might be of interest. However if you don't trust or recognise the branding you may feel wary about buying their products.
We try to make an impression every day. Why do people wear make up, buy new fashion, have their haircut because they want to make an impression. the aesthetics and the image you offer are really important not just the core service.
Business leaders dress smartly to give the image of power and wealth, a show of strength. This really important when negotiating as weakness cannot be shown.
What I'm trying to say is that business is all about showing people who you are, what you are. Your values, your lifestyle, your culture. It's not about sticking to the same its about creating a lasting impression.

Motivation
Through seeking to fulfil we motivate ourselves. Then through that fulfilment we motivate others. Let other peoples success motivate you to do better. What ever you do make sure you do the best you can results however small can feel amazing from cooking your first homemade pie to selling a business for millions success feels good and that's what should motivate you.
I really don't believe people are born to do certain things, I think its a matter of drive and passion. we hear these words allot but what meaning do they really have. Drive is just like when you drive in a car you focus on where you are now and then you use drive in order to get to where you want to be. If there is a roadblock you find a way round it. If your car breaks down you don't sit in it for hours and wonder why. You get it fixed. when you reach your destination you are first relieved but afterwards you enjoy being there.
This is what makes motivation. People who say they cannot be bothered simply lack drive we all do at times we sit back and think why should I do that but those who keep these times to a minimum are the most successful.
If you take nothing else from reading this just remember motivate yourself everyday . Never let others say you can't. don't let anything get you down and live life like you should rather than how you think you should.

It's not Personal, it's just business
It's not Personal, Its just Business is this True?
In the modern day is this famous saying really true with an ever increasing social aspect to all business's is there really no personal touch. It is to be admitted that a great businessman does think objectively at all times and it is correct to say that in business harsh decisions must be made purely on the basis of the business no matter who it affects.
Today we see stories of redundancies day after day cluttering the news. These decisions have been taken for the well being of the company and nothing else. However we then look at programmes such as Undercover Boss which may provide some insight, it has long been my belief that a company is nothing without great people, that diversity in ethnicity, gender, education, beliefs, values actually provides a greater knowledge base and therefore greater power to an organisation.
We see this that people who feel valued despite their own challenges will work harder for the company will feel it represents them as well as the CEO or President. When I first setup my company I felt that the company was a representation of me and therefore it was a personal connection and the people who interacted with the company were people not entities. I like to think they felt they were dealing with me or my colleagues as an individual not just dealing with the company.
when I conducted my first interview I remember feeling nervous myself but I bet you those outside were worse most of them around my age not much older. I was only 17 at the time remember. however once they started I felt it was as important for them to know me as me to know them so I started by a telling them a little bit of my background and I think that true personal insight helps to calm people it gives out a friendly aura which sets an open atmosphere and this is useful I think in all business related meetings. whether it be on an internal board, at market research or in a negotiation.
Finally I look at myself as an employee when I worked as a n employee for a large company I always felt the personal touch was lacking from those outside the local branch. I met with a regional manager who was more frightening than welcoming and that's maybe how it should of been 70-80 years ago but nowadays workers aren't given enough credit. they want to be respected not patronized and I think that's what Business leaders often forget and I think this gives a clue to my conclusion.
I find it unbelievably nieve of people to simply look at the numbers rather than reality, yes the numbers have to work but the link between valued workers and the numbers is a link which truly needs to be emphasized productivity and scale is not only related to what the accountant will tell you. A happy worker on a good day could probably double their personal contribution in the business which ultimately improves revenue. So can business be said to be not Personal. Of course not stupid question really.
Let me know what you think
